Bạn sẽ gặp những trường hợp như là file core từ source wordpress không cần ghi lại, hoặc thư mục hình ảnh trong folder wp-content/uploads. Những core này rất nặng và không cần thiết để Git ghi lại vì như thế rất nặng cho Git của bạn.
Trong trường hợp bạn chỉ cần ghi lại wp-content/themes để lập trình giao diện mà thôi thì gitignore sẽ giúp bạn bỏ qua bản ghi core wp, hay uploads hình ảnh, để bản ghi đỡ cồng kềnh, bạn có thể áp dụng code sau:
